American Idol has wrapped up for the 11th season as Phil Phillips managed to edge out Jessica Sanchez for the victory. But now the real drama is set to begin as it appears the show will be looking for at least one new judge for next season.

Jennifer Lopez has enjoyed a resurgence in her career that she could owe partly to her exposure on Idol, although she did have a hit album last year. She’s likely to be touring soon and her film career is getting back to where it was as well. That has sparked speculation that she will not be a judge on the next season of the show with Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson, and both sides, Lopez and the producers of American Idol, have hinted as much. Some feel as though it could be a simple negotiation ploy as she made $12 million for her second season of the show, and now Britney Spears will be making $15 million at The Voice, which was created by ex-Idol judge Simon Cowell.

That means you will be hearing a lot about possible replacements for Lopez, such as Mary J. Blige, who sportsbooks have as the 7/2 favorite after making a couple appearances on this season as a mentor, while Gwen Stefani is also a possibility at 9/2. Stefani was approached by Cowell to join The Voice, but she stated that her loyalties were to Interscope honcho Jimmy Iovine, who was a mentor on American Idol this year and he is there at 6/1. Names like Mariah Carey (5/1), Katy Perry (5/1), Avril Lavigne (7/1), Miley Cyrus (7/1), Selena Gomez (10/1) and Nicki Minaj (15/1) will be thrown around, and even a return from Paula Abdul (15/2).
